Which Paper Stock Works Best for Poster Printing?

  • 100lb Gloss Book (Top Seller): Our default paper stock and most popular choice. The paper plus the ink and the shine coat create a beautiful glossy finish that reflects light smoothly and professionally, making colors pop. This paper feels like heavy high-end magazine stock. Ideal for promotional materials and event displays that need hand-outs.
  • 100lb Gloss Cover: Need a stiffer display? Scale up to the cover paper stock with all the same beautiful characteristics but thicker. Perfect for wall displays that need to stand on easels or hang without curling on the corners.
  • 80lb Gloss Book: The budget-friendly option for bulk printing, common for event materials handed out or rolled for multiple destinations. Easier to distribute. Perfect for retail displays where volume and budget matter.
  • Matte / Satin Finish: Planning to write on the displays? This glare-free option looks sophisticated and professional. Preferred for text-heavy designs, restaurant wall menus, art prints under glass, scientific displays, and indoor signage.

Our paper providers ensure these papers come from trusted brands committed to planet safety. We use soy-based, eco-friendly inks that deliver true-to-life CMYK deep-blacks and color reproduction. All our glossy prints include Aqueous (AQ) coating that adds protection against weather, scuffing, and damage during transit.

Pro Tip: Preparing Your File for Poster Printing

We have gathered quick-setup tips for best results in your print print project. Follow these three golden rules:

1. Resolution (DPI)

We recommend designs at 300dpi or higher. Some customers notice sharper text and images at 350dpi, so scaling up to 350 DPI (Dots Per Inch) works even better. Avoid copying and pasting online images that are usually 72dpi, as they will look blurry when printing large format prints.

2. CMYK Color

For low quantities (1 to 150), we use digital printing technology and require RGB (Red Green Blue) color settings. For bulk orders over 150 units, we use industrial single-setup printers with CMYK (Cyan Magenta Yellow Black) ink. Convert your file to CMYK mode to avoid color shifts.

3. Bleed Area

We recommend adding 0.25" wide and vertically, or 0.125" to each side. Drag background artwork outside this section so part extends beyond the cutting line, creating the bleed effect that makes your print look printed edge-to-edge.
